New Year, New Challenge
New Year, New Challenge. It’s A State Of Mind… Do You Have It?
The post-Christmas period can leave many of us feeling down. Back to work blues, an empty social calendar, festive weight gain, miserable weather and a dwindling bank balance can all contribute to a general feeling of melancholy. The sense of having to start a new year again at work, with the dial reset to zero and a mountain to climb over the next 12 months, to achieve budgets and goals, can demoralise even the real optimists among us.
A good way to alleviate this feeling of ennui is to create something that energises you, and sometimes nothing energises you more than stepping out of your comfort zone. Although feeling dispirited is unlikely to put you in the mood to exercise, getting up and active is actually one of the best things you can do. Exercise not only releases mood boosting endorphins, but if weight gain is one of the things getting you down following Christmas, an exercise programme will help you to quickly shift any excess weight. Moreover, why not get training with friends or colleagues to get fit together as a team, to achieve your objective(s) as a unified and dedicated group. By getting in shape, setting a goal, stepping out of your comfort zone, taking the odd risk, working together as a team and such like, you will be developing skills that are fully transferable and of key importance in the work place, so as well as being fit for life, you will also be fit for business.
To help you set the target or goal of getting fit and feeling healthy, High Performance Development has teamed up with The Royal Marines and The Royal Marines Charity to sponsor The Directors Challenge at Commando Training Centre Royal Marines on Friday 19th May this year.
You will be in the hands of Royal Marines Physical Training Instructors all the way to ensure that you both complete and compete safely. Unlike anything else of its kind, completion of this course will imbue your team with huge morale, purpose and a sense of achievement, whilst at the same time raising funds for Royal Marines in need.
The Royal Marines are Britain’s elite regular fighting force, but actually they are just ordinary people, who due to their ethos, values and culture are driven to doing extraordinary things. The Commando Values are the guiding principle for The Royal Marines : Courage, Determination, Unselfishness and Cheerfulness in the face of Adversity. You may well have those qualities and the state of mind that is required. If you and your team would like to rise to the challenge, follow the links below to get more information and details on how to register your interest.
Just over 4 months to go: There’s plenty of time to embrace teamwork, new values and get fit for the one and only Directors Challenge!
