Brief
Wolseley approached HPD whilst working within other areas of the organisation to design and develop in partnership with the Training Manager an inspiring first line manager’s programme suitable for head office and branch managers. It had to be as interactive and participative as possible with all key learning points made specific to their role within Wolseley. The programme needed to equip the managers with skills and resources needed to make a difference in the way they lead and the way their branch and teams operate.
Solution
The programme has made a huge difference to many of the managers who have implemented new ways of working. Several of the managers have been inspired to go on to more senior positions and the learnings and experience from their time on the programme has made quiet an impact.
The programme has been running since 2007, it runs four or five times a year and is always very popular and has a great reputation with the organisation.
HPD also runs Graduate development programmes within Wolseley and has work at all levels within the organisation running leadership development programmes.

Firstly praise where praise is due the course was run and coordinated by you very well and on the back of this should only get stronger in the future.
Secondly Ruari and Julie I was unsure what I was going to get out of these two days and I challenged Ruari to prove me wrong and to be fare he did.
I am quite confident in my own abilities and think I manage my staff quite well but during these two days I was encouraged to have a look at my style, which I did and on the back of this I have come to work today with a different attitude, I you could pass my comments and praise onto the team It would be appreciated many thanks Mick.
P.S I have never been on a course with such a nice bunch of people.
